COVID with Miah:

I interviewed Miah about COVID. Here are the questions and her answers.

1. What did COVID do to you?: “It honestly made life more boring because I couldn't really do anything other than be on my phone.”

2. How did it affect things you wanted/was going to do?: “At the time I wasn't really going to do much, so it didn't exactly affect my life in that way.”

3. How did it make you feel?: “Honestly the only way I can describe it is just bored.

4. Do you think COVID helped you grow, or stopped you mentally?: “I think mostly it just stopped me mentally because online school made it harder to learn.”

5. Was school easier, or harder online?: “ Harder online.”

Moore County Blackout:

The town of Moore County was out of power for 5 days. They lost power Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 close to 7pm and after. It left close to 45,000 homes and families without power. On Tuesday, December 6th, 30,000 people were still out of power. It was an “intentional attack” on two substations by gunfire. Moore County Schools were closed Monday-Thursday, but kids and teachers returned on Friday, December 9th. It is possible that the attack was because of a drag show in Southern Pines, but there is no evidence. They still have no idea who did it in late December. The FBI, and NC State Bureau of Investigation is all involved, along with the NC Governor Roy Cooper. The White House was monitoring the substations after the attack. Thank you for the support from other counties and places with power. Thank you Duke Energy and other volunteers. I’m sure all of Moore County appreciates it. Power was finally all regained by 8pm Wednesday night!
